Last week, the Federal Treasurer announced immediate tax relief measures for those in flood-affected areas.

If you have been affected, the Federal Treasurer has announced the following measures:

  • Additional time to meet upcoming BAS obligations

  • Ability to vary quarterly PAYG instalments and received a refund of previously paid instalments

  • Claims for GST refunds will be expedited

  • Small business and individual taxpayers can notify the ATO about their circumstances and seek help

Small businesses and individuals who cannot lodge their BAS or instalment by 28 Feb 2022 or 21 Mar 2022 may lodge those returns by 28 Mar 2022 without needing to request a lodgment deferral.

If you are not able to lodge by 28 Mar 2022, you should contact the ATO or your Tax/BAS agent for help with a deferral.
